Whytebank Chase
An authentic mounted hunting experience in the mountains of South Africa’s Eastern Cape.
A tradition of the land
Set amidst the spectacular mountains of the Eastern Cape, South Africa, Whytebank Chase offers a truly authentic mounted hunting experience with hounds in pursuit of jackal and caracal.
More than an adventure, it is an opportunity to experience a way of life and a tradition that has been integral to our family and our land for well over a century.

Family & heritage
Five generations in the Mankazana Valley
Owned and operated by Richard and Kate Morgan, Whytebank Chase is part of a fifth-generation farming family in the Mankazana Valley.
Horses and hounds have played an essential role in the sustainable management of livestock, going hand in hand with a deep respect for the land and the life it supports.
The mounted experience
Horses, hounds and mountain country
Ride through the Eastern Cape mountain terrain alongside horses and hounds that remain part of everyday farming life. The experience reflects the enduring connection between livestock management, practical horsemanship and stewardship of the land.
Every visit is shaped around the conditions on the farm and discussed personally before arrangements are made.

Accommodation & hospitality
A welcome in the family home
Our guests stay in our family home, an English Colonial farmhouse that has welcomed family, friends and visitors for generations.
Good traditional South African cuisine, comfortable accommodation and genuine hospitality are as much a part of the experience as a day spent in the saddle.
